web design & development
Classic Fine Foods is a London-based food specialist that sources and delivers the highest quality of fresh, frozen and pastry products to the best restaurants and exclusive hotels across the UK.
As we’d worked previously on another one of their businesses, The Tastelab, they approached us to help them transform their outdated website to give customers a more modern and user-friendly experience. They needed to showcase the brands and products that they had partnered with together with striking food imagery to get users tastebuds tingling.
Given the subject matter – food – we knew that we had to create an impactful website that would really impress the user.
At the design stage, we paid close attention to how we would present the imagery throughout the site and decided upon a full-width banner on the home page that transitions through a number of exquisite images of food from around the world. We also ensured that sub-pages were image-led which then offered detailed information to the user via ‘hover over’ content boxes that were clickable to find out more.
Alongside the client’s brand colours of purple, white and taupe, we incorporated a number of complementary colours to create a tasteful and sophisticated colour palette that works well across all pages and reflects the client’s luxury products.
The budget on this project allowed for a custom website build on our own CMS (content management system) which, with full training offered by b4b, means that the Classic Fine Foods’ team are able to edit the website themselves by adding new content and imagery to keep it fresh.
Easy navigation across the site was key so we added three catalogue pages that sorted Classic Fine Foods’ products and services into different sections to allow users to find what they need quickly and easily. We also included a search bar on each page to help make the user journey even simpler.
To promote the values of their business, we used iconography with modal windows which when the icon is clicked opens up a new smaller window that displays in front of the main web page to give the user more details.
The modal window is then closed to return to the main website. This feature enabled us to maintain a streamlined look and feel but still offer users comprehensive information about the client.
As a global business, we have created a further ten smaller websites for Classic Fine Foods for each of their territories across Europe, Asia and the Middle East – all on separate domains.
"Classic Fine Foods are delighted with their striking new website. They are particularly pleased with our commitment and dedication to creating bespoke websites and praised our attention to detail in all aspects of style and practicality"
