introduction

Guardian Automotive, a leading supplier of automotive parts and accessories, wanted to streamline their sales process by developing a B2B ecommerce website. The primary goal was to cater to their trade customers, providing them with a seamless online ordering experience. B4b's software team was tasked with creating a robust, user-friendly platform that integrated seamlessly with Guardian Automotive’s existing systems. 
the challenge

The project presented several challenges: 

  1. Integration with existing systems: Guardian Automotive required use of an older SOAP API to connect the ecommerce platform with their existing stock and customer management system. This integration needed to ensure that customer information, product details, and unique pricing structures were accurately reflected in real-time on the website. 
  1. Secure and personalised access: The platform had to handle sensitive customer information and unique pricing. Therefore, a system was needed where product prices would be hidden unless the user was logged in. Additionally, there had to be an option for non-logged-in users to request orders without seeing product prices. 
  1. User experience and efficiency: Creating a user-friendly interface that allows trade customers to easily navigate the product catalogue, place orders, and manage their accounts was crucial. 

Key features & functionalities

To address these challenges, the b4b software team implemented several key features and functionalities:

Advanced API integration:

  • Developed a robust API connection to ensure seamless integration with Guardian Automotive’s existing stock and customer management system. 
  • Enabled real-time synchronisation of customer information, product data, and individualised pricing. This ensures that customers always have access to the most up-to-date information tailored specifically to them. 
  • Backed this up by cross referencing data from frequent updates via SFTP

Secure login and pricing visibility:

  • Implemented a secure login system where product prices are only visible to logged-in users. This protects sensitive pricing information and ensures personalised pricing strategies. 
  • For non-logged-in users, the system provides an option to request orders. This feature allows potential customers to engage with the platform and initiate orders without immediate access to price information.

  • Designed an intuitive user interface that simplifies the navigation and ordering process for trade customers. 
  • Provided a comprehensive product catalogue with detailed information, helping customers make informed purchasing decisions.
