A Dorset Cruise at sunset in Poole

social media management and paid campaigns

Operating a beautiful vintage 1938 motor yacht, Dorset Queen, the team at Dorset Cruises offer unforgettable cruise experiences and events along the local coastline.

We’ve supported Dorset Cruises in building brand awareness and promoting their programme of exciting summer events, with additional website and content improvements from our SEO team.

devising a killer social media strategy

Aligning our social media strategy with Dorset Cruises’ business goals, our initial focus was on promoting their private charters in the summer. One single post put out to promote these reached over 4,000 people and generated 347 engagements

A key part of our strategy involved adding a personal touch and connecting with Dorset Cruises’ engaged audience. We’ve been sharing amazing user-generated content, including some lovely photography of a recent private wedding charter.

Lastly, showcasing their glowing reviews (a 5-star rating across 160 reviews on Facebook) using dedicated social posts has been a key part of our strategy to establish them as an exceptional company.

Examples of social posts

maximising sales with paid campaigns

Dorset Cruises’ main objective is selling tickets for their various special events. A Sicilian Cruise collaboration with the much-loved local Sicilian cafe, Moka Pot, quickly sold out with the help of our paid social campaigns. A second, similar event sold out soon after. Now, due to popular demand, a third event has been announced.

We also helped them to sell out their Wareham River Cruise, with an engagement post that reached over 12,000 people and generated more than 600 engagements.

Social media has also been a great platform for promoting last-minute offers (for example the 33% discount on their recent Sunset Party Cruise), in conjunction with our web team who implemented a discount functionality on the e-commerce section of their website.

Our next focus will be on helping Dorset Cruises’ festive events be an even bigger success than their summer cruises, with a combination of engaging copy, vibrant imagery, and the right targeting for their paid social campaigns.

The results speak for themselves. Between March 11th (when we took over the accounts) and July 15th we achieved:

6,030 users visited the website from social pages

Social was the second highest form of website traffic (behind organic search – thanks to the efforts of our SEO team, who have also been working their magic)

This is up 356% compared to the same period last year (a total of 1,322 users landed on the Dorset Cruises website via their social channels)
