We developed a specialist Magento 2 e-commerce website to showcase Abacus Autoparts’ catalogue of products and enable them to sell online. Abacus is a leading supplier of coatings and associated products and equipment across a wide range of industries, including the automotive, aviation, industrial, and marine sectors. 

Abacus approached b4b with an existing site that was very minimal, containing few pages with little product information. It also completely lacked the ability to facilitate online transactions.

Our team were tasked with producing a new website that would enable visitors to browse the full catalogue of products and make purchases online, allowing the business to make sales 24 hours a day!

This e-commerce website required a variety of specialist features. Our experts knew that Adobe’s Magento 2 would provide the ideal solution for the client’s needs.

As Abacus offers faster delivery to their B2B customers within a certain radius, the website required a complex shipping function that could offer different delivery options to specific customers throughout certain times of the day. 

With all of the products that Abacus supplies, there were different technical features to consider. Some products were not intended to be made available to purchase online. In order to ensure all items could remain visible, certain pages were adapted in order to replace the buying option with an enquiry form, which allowed the client to facilitate the transaction elsewhere. 

Similarly, some products could be customised, so these pages had to provide the user with the ability to add text on the frontend, in order to display clearly with that specific purchase. 

The new e-commerce platform was also integrated with the Sage accounts system, so the client could maintain stock control and custom pricing levels.

The site was crafted with streamlined search, shipping, and checkout options (including payment gateway integration, Crafty Clicks address lookup, one-step checkout, Search AutoComplete, and Shipping Suite) to improve user experience and increase conversion rate.

Utilising this powerful e-commerce platform enabled our team to incorporate additional features in order to create a highly functional, sophisticated site.
