This weekend the b4b team took park in this year's Dragon Boat race for charity Stable Home Family Trust, alongside clients and friends, Town & Country to form team Wing & A Prayer.
In total, we raised £675 for the fantastic charity and a great day was had by all.
On Saturday morning, we got up bright and early and headed for Poole Park. Hoods up and spirits high, we braved the rain and discussed our game plan. Taking part in 3 races in total in order to compete for a place in the finale, we opted for a different rowing style each time.
Race #1
Our first time on the water as a team, we rowed with power, listening for the beat of our drummer, Jack, who had certainly not planned for such activity that day! Lead by b4b director Tilley and Town & Country director, Lee, the team was motivated and excited - resulting in a win for our first race!
Race #2
Hindsight on our side, this time we went for a 'slow and steady wins the race' tactic, slowing down to preserve energy and opting for power over speed. Headed up by b4b's Jessie and Steff, our team of 16 put their all in and were proud to shave a total of 3.5 seconds of our initial race time!
Race #3
By this time, we'd tried going hell for leather and we'd mastered the slow and steady approach, but now it was time to WIN. On our final race, lead by Town & Country's Nigel and Oliver and powered by competiveness, the team put 100% in; rowing and cheering, splashing and chanting '1, 2 - 1, 2' over and over.
Whilst we didn't make it to the finale, when it came to teamwork and determination, we considered ourselves winners! Not to mention the fantastic sponsorship efforts that led to us raising 96% of our goal - A big thank you to all of our friends, family and clients who donated and of course to Town & Country for being fantastic team mates.
