This week is International Week of Happiness at Work, so we thought it was a perfect time to share all the things we do at b4b to promote a happy, healthy work environment.
Culture Club
At b4b, company culture is a big priority. Work is where we spend the majority of our time, so we know how important it is to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
The people behind the Happiness at Work Manifesto say that happiness at work should be the norm, not the exception. In their words: “Happiness at work pays off. For yourself, when you are happy, you are healthier, more vital, more cheerful, more social and more successful. Happiness at work is about meaningful work, healthy relationships, development, and having fun.” We couldn’t agree more.
That’s why we started Culture Club, an internal group that meets regularly to discuss ways to enhance life at b4b. We’re really excited to have some great events booked in the diary and Christmas party planning is already in full swing.
The b4bar
The b4bar is a popular place to spend lunchtimes, with a fully stocked bar, TV area and pool table. We also enjoy the odd impromptu after-work gathering from time to time.
Training and development initiatives
We’re big believers in investing in our people, which is why we set aside dedicated time for training on a Wednesday afternoon. We encourage everyone to sign up to courses that will help them grow in their role and allow them to explore areas of interest.
Internal conferences
In October, we are launching the first of our internal conferences, as part of our plan to share knowledge and encourage greater collaboration between departments. These informal events are a chance for everyone to get to know each other better, improve general understanding of each person’s unique role within the business, and share tips, knowledge, and best practice among colleagues.
Staff recognition
As well as regular spot prizes given to team members who’ve gone above and beyond on a project, we’ve recently introduced the b4brilliant award. We invite every member of the team to vote for someone they think has been doing an amazing job, and the winner is announced at our monthly company updates.
We’re also busy planning the return of our annual Oscars party, an awards evening designed to recognise and celebrate the outstanding talent we have within our team. It’s guaranteed to be a glamorous evening, so be sure to keep an eye on our socials for photos!
